Let’s dive into the findings:
Trump Job Approval Underwater
In the aftermath of his global tariff rollout, President Trump’s approval rating has fallen significantly since our last survey: 46% of voters approve of his job as President, while 49% disapprove. Trump’s net favorability has been underwater since the first Clarity Omnibus of 2025; however, his job approval had remained positive until now.
Breaking out President Trump’s job approval by issue, voters largely disapprove of his handling of economic issues. Trump’s negative net approval ratings for his handling of the ‘Economy and Jobs’ (-8%) and particularly ‘Inflation and Prices’ (-22%) contrast with his campaign focus on the cost of groceries. Even among Republicans, 32% disapprove of his handling of ‘Inflation and Prices’. The issue areas where Trump holds positive net approval are ‘Immigration’ (+3%) and ‘National Security’ (+9%).
Trump’s Tariff-ic Mess, Americans want Congress to Act
This month’s survey asked if voters approved or disapproved of the new tariffs that President Trump has planned on all products imported from other countries (this survey was fielded entirely after the full tariffs were rescinded). Only 41% of voters approve of the tariffs while 53% disapprove, including 15% of Trump voters who disapprove.
Voters are also strongly in favor of Congress taking action to check Trump’s tariff power. 61% of voters say they would support a law which restricts the president’s ability to impose tariffs without congressional approval, including 56% of Trump voters, versus only 28% who would oppose such a law.
Trump Agenda Remains Unpopular
The latest Omnibus also explored a series of policy initiatives proposed or enacted by President Trump since his inauguration. All but one of the nine policies are very unpopular:
Three of these policies have been polled in each Clarity Omnibus Survey since the start of Trump’s term. Of those three, ‘Mass Deportations’ and ‘Tariffs on Canada/Mexico’ have seen their support slide in each consecutive month as details on the actual policy come to light, while ‘Blocking Appropriations’ has held steady in deeply unpopular territory.
