We are hiring recent graduates and those with political campaign experience to join the Clarity team in our Washington, D.C. office. Our ideal candidate is eager to learn, quick to pick up new skills and knowledge, and dedicated to progressive candidates and causes. No coding skills are necessary for this position.

Polling Associate


We are hiring recent graduates and those with political campaign experience to join the Clarity team in our Washington, D.C. office. Our ideal candidate is eager to learn, quick to pick up new skills and knowledge, and dedicated to progressive candidates and causes. No coding skills are necessary for this position.

Using our in-house tools, Polling Associates will spearhead Clarity’s data collection, meanwhile becoming fluent in the basics of campaign polling and analytics. In their time at Clarity, a polling associate will master survey drafting, design, and processing across multiple modes and platforms. Our surveys range from short, 400 person municipal election phone trackers to 5,000-10,000 person, multimodal statewide and national analytics samples for modeling and election projections, and each requires careful planning, close attention to detail, and precise execution.

Job functions:

• Draft and field large sample size polls and analytics surveys

• Help edit and write language for survey instruments

• Manage data collection with Clarity’s in-house tools for phone, online, and sms polling

• Prepare client memos and visualizations on poll results, diagnostics, and other deliverables

• Duties may vary based on your skillset - bring your writing, data viz, presentation, and technical skills and we will put them to good use

Must have:

• A strong commitment to progressive causes

• Excellent research, writing, and multi-tasking abilities

• Attention to detail

• No technical skills required, just the desire and ability to learn

• Availability to work in our D.C. office

Awesome to Have:

• Prior campaign experience

• Experience with advanced number crunching in R, Stata, SPSS, or similar statistical software

• Familiarity with visualization and mapping tools like Tableau, ggplot, or ArcGIS/QGIS

• Familiarity with voter file data, databases, or SQL

• Coursework in American politics or research methods

We are looking for individuals with analytic and technical skills who thrive in a startup environment to join our team in Washington, DC.

If you have strong analysis and technical skills and are interested in working on predictive models and analytical puzzles for high profile campaigns, you’re in the right place! Our ideal candidate is eager to learn, quick to pick up new skills, and dedicated to progressive candidates and causes. In their time at Clarity, Junior Analysts will master the basics of political data, become fluent in campaign data, gain valuable political experience, and develop the technical skills to tackle a wide range of analytic problems.

Job Functions

• Support the nitty-gritty of Clarity’s microtargeting and predictive modeling workflow

• Work with large data sets using SQL and other data management tools in a *NIX environment

• Assist with the sampling, coding, programming, and weighting of surveys

• Use mapping and plotting tools to visualize models, election projections, and other information

• Create memos and presentations to effectively communicate survey results and targeting recommendations based on models

• Tackle anything else the analytics team tosses your way

Must Have

• Individuals with one to two years of analytics experience or recent college graduates with solid technical backgrounds are encouraged to apply

• A strong commitment to progressive and charitable causes is a must

• Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate technical subjects to a nontechnical audience

• Diplomatic, professional approach to problem solving

• Excellent research, writing, and multi-tasking abilities

• Ability to manage several tasks and projects concurrently and to prioritize work effectively

• Must be a self-starter and willing to work long, irregular hours as needed

• Availability to work in our D.C. office

Awesome to Have

• Familiarity with SQL and *NIX command line environments

• Prior campaign experience

• Experience with advanced number crunching in R, Stata, SPSS, or similar statistical software

• Programming experience, especially in Python or Perl

• Prior work with GIS software like ArcGIS or QGIS

• Familiarity with voter file data, databases, or SQL

• Coursework in American politics, computer science, quantitative methods, or machine learning/artificial intelligence
